Appointment to the Fisher Chair shall be for the period of one year. The appointment may be renewed for up to two (2) additional years upon the recommendation of a majority of the Tenure Committee.
Any tenured, full-time member of the faculty of the College of Law is eligible for appointment.
Eligible faculty members may nominate themselves for the Chair, or may be nominated by other members of the law school community, including faculty, administrators, students, or alumni. All nominations must be submitted, in writing, to the chair of the Tenure Committee at least forty-eight hours prior to the announced meeting to select the recipient of the Fisher Chair.
By a 2/3 vote to those present and voting, the Tenure Committee shall recommend a nominee to the Dean for appointment of the Fisher Chair.
The Fisher Chair shall be awarded to a member of the faculty of the College of Law with a record of sustained excellence in scholarship, teaching and service to the legal community. 2-19-02, revising the procedure established on 3-24-94.
