Biography:

Professor Grant received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State University and his Juris Doctorate degree cum laude from the University of Akron. Mr. Grant has been admitted to the practice of law in Ohio, before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Grant is a member of the Ohio State and Columbus Bar Associations and is a former member of the Akron Bar Association. He is also a member of the Cleveland and Columbus Intellectual Property Law Associations. Prior to law school, Mr. Grant spent over ten years with The Standard Oil Company of Ohio, where he had a number of corporate positions, including research, human resources, business planning and technical procurement. He is the inventor of two United States patents. He also has over fifteen years of experience in intellectual property law practice, primarily in northeast Ohio.

Mr. Grant has been a frequent speaker at conferences and continuing legal education seminars, especially in the area of copyrights. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Akron School of Law, where he has taught copyrights and art law, and The Ohio Northern University College of Law where he teaches patent law.

Mr. Grant focuses his practice on the preparation and prosecution of chemical and mechanical patents, copyrights and trademarks. He has particular experience in the domestic prosecution of patent applications originating in Europe and Canada, as well as in the prosecution of foreign patents under the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
