Mindi L. Wells joined the College of Law in 2004 as Assistant Dean for Administration and Student Service. She is responsible for managing day to day operations of the college and for improvement of the performance of law college administrative processes, including management of the college's finances, facilities, personnel and student organizations, coordinating college publications and marketing initiatives, and assisting with student services, assessment, career services, and faculty development.
She received the Juris
Doctor degree from Ohio Northern's Pettit College of Law and the Bachelor of
Science in Business Administration degree with distinction, with majors in
economics and political science, from Ohio Northern's College of Business
Administration. Dean Wells is a licensed attorney in Ohio and Florida and with the
U.S. Supreme Court. She is also a certified Professional in Human Resources.
Prior to joining the staff of Ohio Northern, Dean Wells worked for law firms in
Gainesville, Florida, Ocala, Florida and Lima, Ohio, concentrating on workers'
compensation and insurance defense. After earning her undergraduate degree, she
interned with the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. in the Office of Liaison
to International Financial Institutions (OLIFI).
She began her career at Ohio Northern in 1998 as Personnel Manager and became Director of Personnel Services in 2002. Her areas of interest include employment law (FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, Title VII, etc.), labor relations, workers' compensation and education law.
Dean Wells is a member of the Florida Bar Association, where she was elected as an out-of-state representative to the Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors and appointed as an executive council member of the Out of State Division, the Ohio State Bar Association, the William Howard Taft American Inn of Court, the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), Phi Delta Phi (international legal fraternity), Phi Kappa Phi (all-discipline honor society) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She serves on the board of the Lima Society of Human Resource Management (LSHRM). Dean Wells has served as an adjunct instructor at James A. Rhodes College, teaching human resources courses and business courses and has presented a number of training and legal compliance workshops on topics such as interviewing, discipline, performance reviews and HR leadership.
