Prior to joining the faculty, he was in private practice in Rochester, New York, concentrating in general litigation and health law. Professor Benson is the author of several articles on domestic relations and criminal law and co-authors an annual update of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. He has served as associate dean of the law college.
Professor Benson was named Professor Emeritus in 2000.
