Biography:

Professor Konop joined ONU as an adjunct professor in Spring, 2005.  Previously, Prof. Konop was an associate in the litigation section of  Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P. in Washington, D.C. where he worked with product liability, securities fraud, false advertising, antitrust, and contract disputes and authored analysis of federal legislation and regulation governing a recall of firearms.   He recently ran as a candidate for U.S. Congress from the 4th District of Ohio.

Following his congressional campaign, Professor Konop returned to Lucas County and as a Visiting Professor at the University of Toledo College of Law teaching corporate, environmental, legislative and election law. In December of 2005, Commissioner Konop announced that he would be running for Lucas County Commissioner. On Election Day, voters responded to his message and elected him to the Board of County Commissioners with nearly 65% of the vote.

Commissioner Ben Konop took office in January of 2007 after being overwhelmingly elected by the citizens of Lucas County.

While campaigning for the Congressional seat, Prof. Konop participated in two televised debates with opponent, including a debate in Lima moderated by Ohio Northern University President Dr. Kendall Baker, delivered speeches at rallies with John Kerry and John Edwards in Bowling Green and Lima, delivered keynote addresses at UAW Conference in Washington , DC , United Steelworkers Conference in Washington , DC , and Teamsters Statewide Conference in Cincinnati and spoke at numerous high school and colleges throughout the state, including Bluffton University , Ohio Northern University, and The Ohio State University.
