Students who have excelled academically may be eligible for legal scholar awards. Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis
of academic achievements and range between $5,000-$23,000. The number and amounts of financial aid awards are based on the
number and qualifications of applicants, the availability of funds, and other factors and are subject to change without notice.
Scholarships are based on factors such as:
Employment experience
Community involvement
Extracurricular activities
Renewal of Scholarships Legal scholar awards will be renewed annually if the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Scholarships for Continuing Students The College of Law awards scholarships to students who excel during their first year in law school and who have not received
other scholarships or other college assistance. These awards are based on the cumulative first-year GPA in amounts linked to the
level of performance.
ONU Grant Awards Each year, the Ohio Northern University College of Law makes available a limited number of need-based grants to assist
economically disadvantaged students with the funding of their legal education. Grant awards are renewed annually so long as the
recipient remains in good academic standing and continues to have financial need.

Federal Student Loan Programs
Subsidized Stafford Loans Ohio Northern law students who are American citizens may borrow up to $8,500 per year through the Subsidized Stafford Loan
Program. The federal government makes interest payments on these loans while the student is completing his or her legal education.
Unsubsidized Stafford Loans In addition to the subsidized student loan, a student may borrow up to $12,000 under the Unsubsidized Stafford Loan Program.
While there is no federal interest subsidy on this loan, the student may defer payment of interest while completing his or her legal
education.
By combining the Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, a student can borrow a total of $20,500 annually.
Private Loans For students who require additional financial resources beyond the $18,500 the Stafford Loan Programs provide, several private
lending programs are available. Students participating in these programs may borrow the difference between the $20,500 and the
total annual cost of attendance (including room, board and incidental expenses).
