Mike DeWine

Mike DeWine was born in Springfield, Ohio, January 5, 1947. He attended
Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and earned a B.S. in 1969. Later he earned a
J.D. from Ohio Northern University College of Law in 1972.

After earning his J.D. DeWine was admitted to the Ohio State bar in 1972, and
commenced practice in Xenia, Ohio. He later served as assistant prosecuting
attorney in Greene County, Ohio between the years 1973 through 1975.
Eventually DeWine earned the position of prosecuting attorney in Greene
County and served from 1977 to 1981.

DeWine was elected to the Ohio Senate in 1981 through 1982. He was
elected as a Republican to the Ninety-eighth Congress and to the three
succeeding Congresses between the date January 3, 1983 through January 3,
1991. He was one of the managers appointed by the House of Representatives
in 1986 to conduct the impeachment proceedings against Judge Harry E. Claiborne.

In 1990 he was elected as the 59th lieutenant governor of Ohio for the four-year term beginning January 14, 1991. While
lieutenant governor DeWine failed to unseat Senator John Glenn in 1992.

DeWine was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in 1994 and reelected in 2000 for the term ending January
3, 2007.
