Herman J. Weber (Unknown - 1932)

Professor of Law 1921 - 1932
Dean 1930 - 1932

Herman Jacob Weber served as Dean of the Ohio Northern University College of Law from 1930-32.

Weber practiced law until 1921 when he joined the faculty at Ohio Northern College. He briefly served as Dean of Men in 1927, then was named Dean of the law school in 1930 until his death in 1932. A tribute to Dean Weber, written by Robert Williams shortly after Weber’s death, described his time as Dean of the Ohio Northern University College of Law:

“...For he was bent upon the improvement of standards in the College of Law. He was responsible for the great recent improvement in the Law Library, and it was through his energy and enthusiasm that recent numerous additions were made to the intellectual resources of the library itself. He was intensely interested in plans for the building of the enrollment in the Law College. His faith and energy were unconquerable.”

Weber and his wife, Ada Minola Weber, both died as a result of an automobile accident near Marysville, Ohio, on June 28, 1932. Mrs. Weber graduated from the law school in 1924 and worked in his office following graduation. Weber’s son, Herman J. Weber, graduated from the Ohio State law school on December 20, 1951 and is a federal judge. He and his wife, Barbara, reside in Cincinnati. They have two children: Deborah Rieder and Clayton Weber.
